  26. I'm using a 512k Mac ROM file, yes. Dunno who told you not to use
  27. System 7.5.. sounds silly to me. :)

  35. From the ShapeShifter docs I believe one is told the 1 meg ROM is only
  36. of use if you have an 040 Amiga, otherwise you're just wasting
  37. a half meg of RAM by loading it.

  68. I've gotten a bit more RAM when I really wanted to push it by
  69. getting rid of my WB backdrop pic, cutting my WB from 16 colors down
  70. to 8 or 4.. even running WB in 640x200 :) Every little bit helps
  71. the Mac side, but generally I can get by with what I get through
  72. normal booting.  I can run eWorld PLUS its Web browser with it.

  81. I don't pretend to be Mister Know-it-all as far as Macs or Mac
  82. emulation works. I've played with ShapeShifter prefs settings a bit,
  83. and generally when dealing with software I take the lazy way out - if
  84. I find a config that works for me, although some other config might
  85. possibly give me a squinch more of this or that, I stick with 
  86. what I've got or what I'm using already.

  88. My *MAIN* goal, the whole reason I wanted to run ShapeShifter to
  89. begin with was to be able to have a "Mac" with which to download
  90. Newton software/programs to my Newton message pad. I have accomplished
  91. that - it works and works well for me, so I consider anything else
  92. I can get ShapeShifter to do for me is merely gravy. :)

  94. I even briefly considered buying a real mac or a cheap clone to
  95. be able to load packages to the Newton, but when Christian Bauer
  96. told me HE owns a Newton and HE was using his own program to
  97. download packages to it, I put my checkbook away and decided, dammit,
  98. I'd figure out a way to do it too. Turns out I was using the wrong
  99. kind of Mac(amiga) <> Newton cable. Once I got the right cable,
  100. it worked like a charm.

  102. It's also kinda fun to have a Mac or PC user over, show them the
  103. Workbench, then pull the screen down and reveal a color Mac Sys 7.5
  104. Finder screen (enhanced with "Aaron") running behind it. Heh.. 
  105. talk about knocking their socks off...

  108. "obsolete" "underpowered" "ugly" little "game machine". :)))
